WIR – reuse, maintaining and repairing during the apprenticeship or the job training
The education project WIR – Reuse, maintaining and repairing during the apprenticeship or the job training made it it’s goal to spread Kunst-Stoffes main topics (Re- and Upcycling, waste prevention and environmentally conscious behavior) to people that are currently undergoing an apprenticeship, vocational preparation or are still seachring for a career path. W.I.R. wants to show young people different possibilities and alternatives to old patterns of consumption. Since July 2014 we are working together with different facilities in the sector of education, with small and medium class businesses aswell as networks and academic facilities.
Together with the students of the Peter-Lenne School and the OSZ Nature and environment, we chose the european week of waste prevention as a kick-off for our campaign “Ideas For Waste Prevention”, to show the necessity of waste prevention, and to invite everyone to take part in our project. Sustainability, waste prevention and environmental consciousness – the main topics of our work are more and more broached and discussed in public. In the education sector however, individual teachers and educational institutions have to broach the topic. But the work of tomorrow is mainly found there. No matter if its craft, design or electrial engineering – waste material accumulate everywher, and everywhere, work can be sustainable. Be it the creative reuse of wood in a workshop or the reuse of fabric or the repairing of electronic devices. With the building of a network and with the connection to already established networks we hope to build a structural base for an education, where reuse, repairing and maintaining are a important part of the students schedule, and a feature of qualification for future trainees. Together with our partners from different sectors of environmental education we offer awareness raising workshops that are cut for different departments and give students a concrete way of saving recsources in their daily life. As a motivation, we also offer our own facilities, like material storages, open workshops and Repair Cafes, as places to learn alternative lifestyles and Best-Practice examples. Together with the Students, we document and reflect the learning process and present our results at the end of the school year/semester as exebitions, speeches or information events.

First and foremost we, together with the students, want to find ways to reduce trash accumulation at their future workplace, and how the waste that does accumulate can be reused effectively.
